Welsh Springer Spaniels are generally a healthy, robust breed and with good diet, exercise and life style could be expected to live an average of 14 years. While the Welsh Springer in Australia is a healthy active dog, as with all breeds there is a minority of hereditary issues that responsible breeders are aware of and plan their breeding program accordingly. The Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of N.S.W. set up a Health Issues Committee to provide advice and guidance on such hereditary issues, however infrequently they may occur, associated with the breed. This committee has representatives in most states of Australia.
